I want this site to be genuinely useful, and part of being useful is being honest about what it can and can’t do. This page lays that out plainly. If you have questions, email me at applianceconversion@gmail.com.
The conversions are a starting point, not a guarantee
The calculators on ApplianceConversion.com give you approximate cooking times and temperatures based on published conversion rules and trusted sources. They are a strong starting point — not an exact, guaranteed answer.
Real cooking depends on things a calculator simply can’t know: how much food is in the pot, how much liquid you used, the exact size and cut of your meat, the brand and model of your appliance, and more. Two people using the same recipe and the same tool can get slightly different results. Always treat the numbers as guidance and use your own judgment.
Food safety is your responsibility
This is the most important part, so I’ll be direct.
A cooking-time conversion does not tell you that food is safe to eat. A timer tells you roughly how long to cook; only a food thermometer tells you whether your food has reached a safe internal temperature. For anything involving meat, poultry, fish, or other foods where doneness matters, please use a food thermometer and check against the official USDA safe minimum internal temperatures before serving.
I provide USDA temperature references on the tools as a convenience, but you are responsible for making sure your food is cooked safely. If you’re ever unsure whether something is done, cook it longer or check it properly — don’t rely on a converted time alone.
I’m a developer, not a chef
I think you deserve to know who’s behind the tools. I’m a software developer, not a professional chef or a food-safety expert. I build these calculators by researching trusted, published cooking sources and turning them into clear, consistent tools — and I document my sources on the How We Calculate page.
That means the information on this site is for general informational purposes only. It is not professional culinary, nutritional, or food-safety advice. If you have specific dietary, health, or safety needs, please consult a qualified professional.
No warranties
I work hard to keep the tools accurate and up to date, but I can’t promise the site or its calculators are error-free, always available, or fit for every purpose. The site and everything on it are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, I won’t be liable for any loss or damage — including ruined meals, wasted ingredients, or anything more serious — arising from your use of this site or reliance on its tools and information. You use the site and its conversions at your own risk.
Affiliate disclosure
Some pages on this site may contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the site. I only ever link to things I believe are genuinely relevant, and affiliate relationships never influence the conversion math or the advice I give.
External links
This site links to other websites, including the cooking and food-safety sources I cite. I don’t control those sites and I’m not responsible for their content or accuracy. Linking to a site isn’t an endorsement of everything on it.
Changes
I may update this disclaimer as the site grows. When I do, I’ll change the “last updated” date at the top.
